With an extensive career in IT, culminating in a significant role at Snowflake, what sparked your interest in a startup like Maxa? 

Fred: My journey in IT has been about embracing innovation at every turn. At Snowflake, I was part of a remarkable growth story, helping to build and establish its Canadian market. But over time, I started seeking a different challenge, including looking at the best way to leverage Snowflake’s technology.  Maxa stood out as a beacon of innovation, particularly in how it’s revolutionizing the way the C-Suite will engage with data. What interested me the most was how the team was focused on building a Snowflake Native App, a new way of putting data to work that makes the complex easy, and opens up a whole world of opportunities for both Maxa and its customers.

 Can you elaborate on what makes Maxa stand out in the tech landscape?

Fred: Absolutely. Maxa isn’t just another startup. It’s a pioneer in creating a financial data platform tailored for the modern CFO. I was fascinated by how Maxa leverages Snowflake’s capabilities and tech stack from end to end to offer unique solutions. Not only is Maxa addressing a common business challenge of unlocking valuable ERP insights, but one of the ways it’s solving this problem using Snowflake Native Apps, is completely changing the game for our customers. 

What makes Snowflake Native Apps so compelling?

Unlike traditional SaaS apps, Native Apps bring the application code directly to the customer’s data stored in their Snowflake environment. This allows the customer to have complete control of their valuable data: it never has to leave the data platform and remains protected, mitigating any potential security risks. Ultimately, for the customer, this means bypassing long software procurement processes, faster time to value and lowers the overall total cost of ownership. With your extensive experience at Snowflake shaping its growth, how does this contribute to your role at Maxa, particularly in light of Maxa’s vision?

Fred: My tenure at Snowflake equipped me with a deep understanding of the technology and a keen insight into customer needs. This experience is invaluable at Maxa, where I apply this knowledge to advance our mission daily. We’re not just building another financial platform at Maxa; we’re designing a system that revolutionizes the way CFOs, the C-Suite and their teams interact with analytics and insights. This means fostering a more natural, direct conversation with the data and offering real-time insights and answers. In my role, I’m leveraging my background to ensure that we not only meet, but also exceed client expectations in financial data management. It’s about driving innovation and growth, aligning with Maxa’s transformative approach to business data engagement. 

What excites you most about Maxa’s future?

Fred: The potential for Maxa is immense. We’re at a point where we’re not just building a product; we’re shaping how businesses will interact with their data. Our approach to using machine learning (ML), Generative AI (GenAI) and Snowflake’s capabilities, positions us at the cutting edge of financial data management. This and upcoming investment rounds set the stage for an exciting journey of scaling for growth and innovation. 

What’s your vision for the impact Maxa will have in the tech world?

Fred: I see Maxa not just as a company but as a catalyst for change in financial data management. With our technology and team, we have the opportunity to redefine how businesses use and interact with their data, making it more accessible, intuitive, and valuable.
